This is the moment before rebirth, the space between breaking and becoming.
Before the Phoenix is about feeling the wounds open, standing in the fire, embracing the pain without rushing to escape it. It’s about looking at what was lost and what’s still ahead, knowing that transformation is coming, but first, you must sit with everything that brought you here.
I painted this in a space of transition, between past and future, between endings and new beginnings. The red isn’t just fire. 
It’s emotion, raw, untamed, and full of intensity. 
It’s the weight of sacrifice, the ache of growth, the burning desire to rise. And yet, there’s beauty here. In the struggle, in the process, in the uncertainty.
I felt like a phoenix while painting this, but not yet soaring. Just before.
The moment of reckoning, of choice. Do I let this fire consume me, or do I let it forge me into something new?
